One major reason folks take up golf as a pastime is that golf is a sport for all ages. As we grow older we won't have to leave it behind like we did some other sports like baseball or football. Another reason many give for choosing golf is the health benefits they recognize from a regular golf outing.

It is sad to know that for many of those folks their dream of playing golf well into old age will be cut short by the injuries experienced while trying to enjoy the very game they intended to keep them healthy. Yes many a muscle, joint and back injury has been incurred while in the midst of a golf swing.

Over swinging, off balance swings, incorrect posture and awkward stances can often lead to one kind of injury or another.

What is even more sad is most of those injuries are entirely avoidable. A dynamic golf strength exercise program does wonders for protecting the pressure points of the body where the golf swing applies the most stress.

This additional stress will help your golf swing but may also cause an injury if taken too far. Pulled muscles, sprained knees, strained tendons and ligaments and more are a part of the golfer's life that is not in shape for golf.

So please be careful and take preventive measures by adding dynamic golf strength exercises to your golf training routine if you have one. If you are not already engaged in a golf training routine then please consider doing so to protect your ability to play long into the future.

Golf strength is also about longer, straighter drives, more successful trouble shots (deep rough, wet fairway bunkers) and enhanced stamina in addition to preventing a golf related injury.

Wondering just what you would be getting into with a dynamic golf strength exercise program. One of the exercises you might be doing is known as a lateral raise. Stand in your normal golf posture with a single dumbbell in one hand. Simulate a backswing and follow through with the dumbbell. Switch hands and repeat with the opposite arms. The added resistance of the dumbbell with help to build strength in the muscles used to execute the golf swing.

Then there is the question of time. You might be thinking that a golf fitness program like this would require hours of exhausting exercises. So much time and effort required that you would not be willing or able to commit to a program like that no matter how much it helped your golf game.

The key thing about the time is that time is something you can control. You might want to invest a lot to get a lot. You want to improve your golf game faster than gossip at a church social. On the other hand you may want to go slower than molasses in the winter. You can do either or something in between. It is all up to you.
