Golf Fitness: Gain More Distance with Improved Fitness for Duffers
 by Wayne Hudler

Imagine yourself standing on the tee of every par four on the course knowing that you have the distance to get inside of 150 yards with your tee shot. Discover just how easy it is to make that dream a reality. Yes you too can have longer, straighter tee shots and it won't cost $300 USD like that new driver. You can become a lean, mean driving machine before you know it with the secrets revealed here.

All of us want to hit the ball farther off the tee. We invest in new equipment in hopes of gaining an additional 10 yards. Often we left disappointed. We try swing tips to get those yards, but they fail to provide a real difference we can count on. Again we're disappointed. We press on though.

Now we are trying gadgets and devices to help us groove a better swing and gain the kind of distance that makes this game so much easier. But gadgets didn't do the job for us either. How about changing golf balls? That could add a measure of improvement. But the harder distance balls work against you on and around the green.

Wouldn't it be great if there was a way to get the distance off the tee we all crave so much? You probably already know how much easier it would be to hit the green with a seven iron or less than say a five iron.

You probably dream about taking the pressure off of your short game with improved greens in regulation. Putting for birdie from anywhere on the green is better than the alternative. That is why we keep searching for more driving distance. How can we get that extra ten yards or more?

continued below...

If you want to add those extra yards on a permanent basis without tricks, gimmicks and the like then I beg you to consider improving the one key element of your golf game you probably haven't thought about until now. That key element is your body.

Think about it, your body determines swing speed, swing path and club face angle at impact. Your golf swing is intended to return the clubface into the ball square to the target line at the fastest possible speed. No matter how great that new driver is or how perfectly matched that ball is to your swing and equipment it matters not if your body fails to accomplish its part in the process.

So if your body is more important to a successful swing than the equipment involved shouldn't we consider improving the body's ability to perform the golf swing? Makes sense doesn't it?

I would encourage you to begin a golf specific fitness program today. We've already determined that you need to be in good shape to execute a successful golf swing consistently. The golf swing requires the body to have dynamic balance and strength as well as flexibility.

Your golf fitness program should amount to a set of stretches and exercises designed to unleash the swing's stored energy at the moment of impact. Your program should be just that focused.

The beauty of a golf specific fitness system is that it only requires thirty minutes daily at home or the office (I do mine at work most days) with very basic training tools. You can do that, can't you?

Nothing too strenuous but if done consistently over time (a few weeks) will begin to make a noticeable difference you can feel and see on the course. That sense of strength and power is unmistakable as you stand over each shot. You have new found confidence knowing that you are more physically able to swing the golf club successfully.

Generally speaking you will need a stability ball, exercise tubing/bands and free weights. All very easy to find, store and afford. These devices are used in drills and movements similar to your golf swing intended to improve coordination, stability and dynamic balance. All directed toward improving the timing of your golf swing so that maximum energy is released at the most effective time.

You do want that additional ten to twenty yards off the tee, right? Then consider that spending thirty minutes dedicated to golf fitness will give you extra yardage not only off the tee but with every club in the bag. It is such an advantage to have the length off the tee that leaves approach shots with the shorter irons. But it is even better to be a able to hit a nine iron rather than an eight because of your new extra length gained for every club from spending just thirty minutes daily!
